Brotherhood builds is a 8-week, trauma-informed program for Black high school males at risk of incarceration, grounded in cognitive-behavioral skill development shown to reduce juvenile recidivism by up to 26% by improving control, problem-solving, and decision-making. Through consistent mentoring and brotherhood-based support, the program aligns with national randomized trials demonstrating that mentored youth are 54% less likely to be arrested and show significant gains in self-control and school engagement. Brotherhood Builds integrates financial literacy and economic empowerment, reflecting evident that youth who receive financial education show improved budgeting behaviors and are three times more likely to engage in long-term financial planning compared to peers without instruction. With a built-in anti-bullying and bystander intervention component, the program draws on research showing comprehensive, skills-based anti-bullying programs reduce bullying and victimization by 18-23%, lowering conflict-driven discipline and justice system contact.
