Our goal is to equip mothers and guardians (outside of the Missouri, Kansas and Illinois area) with practical, actionable skills to co‑parent effectively in families impacted by incarceration. Co‑Parenting Ikigai specializes in serving families where a parent is currently incarcerated or has been recently released, supporting caregivers as they navigate the complex transition from functioning as a single parent to rebuilding a healthy co‑parenting relationship. Our co‑parenting education workshops focus on what mothers and guardians can realistically expect before, during, and after reunification, including communication, boundary‑setting, conflict resolution, and shared parenting responsibilities during reentry.
Complementing this work, our children’s workshops, designed for youth ages 10 and older, focus on preparing children emotionally and cognitively for a parent’s return home. These sessions provide a safe, developmentally appropriate space for children to explore their feelings, ask questions, and learn healthy ways to express emotions and adjust to changes in family dynamics—helping reduce anxiety, build resilience, and strengthen reunification outcomes for the entire family.
